L2 Code 4 Kids by Adrit Rao

Adrit is an incoming freshman at Palo Alto High School, who started an initiative called L2 Code 4 Kids this summer. In this program, he teaches the basics of Apple’s Swift programming language for developing iOS, iPadOS and macOS apps.

App development is becoming more and more popular due to its accessibility, which makes it valuable to learn. Students in Adrit’s course gain basic knowledge in apps, and then can go on to develop custom apps for the App Store. In particular, the course first goes over the basics of the Swift programming language and syntax before diving into creating your first app.

Adrit has already held one session in June and is currently holding the next one in July. And, he’s received positive feedback from attendees. One student said: “I like how we covered a lot of material. I also liked that it was hands on!” Another said: “I think that the class was great! I learned a lot of new things including swift programming, Xcode, and how to be an apple developer.”

Adrit collects $50 each from the nearly 20 students he is teaching. Half of this is going towards his own company Arètech and the other half will be donated to Get Involved Foundation.
